The Oktagon star delivered an impressive performance in his last fight, dominating Attila Korkmaz over three rounds. As the sport's hottest free agent, fans speculated for weeks about his next move: Would he re-sign with Oktagon, join the UFC, or head elsewhere?
On the afternoon of Friday, June 20, rumours of Shem signing with the UFC surfaced when pictures circulated showing his name on the UFC roster website. However, there was silence from both the company and Shem.
Later that day, an announcement video was released featuring Shem with servants bringing him MMA gloves. One glove was from Oktagon, and when he put it on, he said, “Played out though, man, I’ve already done this.” They then presented a UFC glove, prompting him to exclaim, “Now we’re f**king talking,” followed by the UFC logo.
This is a massive signing for the UFC, as Shem boasts an impressive social media presence and a knack for marketing. Beyond that, his incredible story is an easy sell: years on the run from the police in Thailand, where he discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and the rest is history.
Shem has been a UFC athlete for a few days and is already calling the shots. Matt “The Steamrolla” Frevola congratulated Shem on the signing, to which Shem replied, “Nice one, lad, now let’s have a f**king straightener.” Could Frevola be the one to welcome the Shem Show?

It’s unclear when, where, or who Shem’s opponent will be, but one thing is certain: The Shem Show has arrived, and he will be making waves in the UFC.
