Janeiro
Following the latest Pay-Per-View card which was held in, Rio De Janeiro. I will discuss what I think is the best and most likely matchups for the fighters that competed on that night.
(C) ALEXANDRE PANTOJA – After having a very close contested bout over newcomer Steve Erceg, the Flyweight champion once again heard Bruce Buffer say “And Still!”. The Fight that I want to see Pantoja have next, is Amir Albazi.
STEVE ERCEG – Erceg certainly shocked many fight fans all over the world with the performance which he displayed on Saturday night. Being ranked #10 and having a title fight is very rare, but when you’re as skilled as Steve, it just makes sense. I want to see Erceg fight Kai Kara France in a Perth.
JOSE ALSO – The King Of Rio returned with a bang in his comeback fight, looking like himself in previous years. I would love to see Aldo fight Deiveson Figueiredo in an all Brazilian clash.
JONATHAN MARTINEZ - After being the favourite in his fight against Aldo, we saw Martinez drop 2 places in the bantamweight rankings. Being ranked 14 I think he deserves taking a fight with someone on the same ranking level as him. Martinez and Pedro Munhoz, would be a banger in my opinion.
ANTHONY SMITH - Smith who was a very heavy underdog against Petrino, pulled off a miraculous guillotine in the first round, silencing many in the Brazilian crowd. I would pay to see Smith fight his lookalike Bogdan Guskov in his next fight, even though they helped each other train with both of their bouts.
VITOR PETRINO – With many fancying Petrino’s chances to become a ranked UFC athlete, it ended in frustration for the Brazilian as he went for a takedown after looking sharp on his feet, he got caught in a sub. I would give Petrino another chance to get ranked as I think he should face Ryan Spann next.
MICHEL PEREIRA – The UFC showman put on another fantastic display on Saturday with another first-minute submission over Poteria. He is now on a crazy 8 fight win streak and its only right for him to get a shot at climbing the rankings next. I would love to see Pereira face Roman Dolidze next.
IHOR POTIERIA - Poteria took this fight against Pereira on short notice, with already having a bout booked to face Shara Magomedov in the Saudi card in June. This fight is the most likely as he didn’t get knocked out and he will be able to proceed to take that fight in Saudi.
CAIO BORRALHO – “The Natural” put on a very impressive performance against the tricky Paul Craig. He fighting nerd has called for his shot against #4 ranked Jared Cannonier on the mic moments after his devastating knockout. This fight interests me a lot, I think this bout could be another UFC Apex headliner.
PAUL CRAIG – I'm not so sure what is next for “Bearjew” who fell out of the middleweight rankings. I don’t think Middleweight is the weight class for Craig, I would assume he will be going back up a weight class to Light- Heavyweight next. I would like to see him face a veteran of the game in Ovince St. Preux.
