UFC 286, Edwards vs Usman 3 takes place on March 18th, 2023 and is set to be an all time classic end to a trilogy. The card is stacked top to bottom with fighters from the United Kingdom. Here, we’ll breakdown the main card.
In the main event, it’s the trilogy finale of Leon Edwards vs Kamaru Usman. The first fight was a decision win for the Nigerian Nightmare, the second fight was a highlight KO for Leon Edwards in the 5th round.
This third and final fight has the potential to be an all-timer with Leon going for greatness by defending his belt against a future hall of famer and Usman, going for two time champ status by regaining the belt he lost just a few months back.
The co-main event is sure to be a cracker with Justin “the highlight” Gaethje taking on Rafael Fiziev. With Gaethje’s last win coming over Michael Chandler in a fight of the year winner, this one’s sure to get the crowd out of their seats.
Gunnar Nelson takes on Bryan Barbarena on the main card. Nelson is coming into this fight with an 18-5-1 record and will be looking to get a scalp from the American Barbarena. Barbarena has a record of 18-9-0 and will be looking to bounce back from his last loss to RDA who submitted Barbarena in the second round.
The second fight on the main card comes in the form of Jennifer Maia vs “King” Casey O’Neill. O’Neill is coming into this fight as a favourite with a perfect record of 9 wins and no defeats. Jennifer Maia is coming into this fight with a record of 20-9-1 after defeating Maryna Moroz in her last outing.
Marvin Vettori vs Roman Dolidze opens the main card in a hugely important match for the future of the middleweight division. Vettori is looking to bounce back from his loss to Whittaker at UFC Paris by beating the Georgian fighter. Dolidze is on a 4 fight win streak and said during fight week that beating Vettori puts him in line for a title shot next.
