Post UFC 293, Adesanya vs Strickland matchmaking

Aaron McNally

ufc 293

Sean Strickland – Who saw that one coming? One of the biggest upsets in the recent history of the sport! Should he rematch Izzy or let Dricus Du Plessis get his well-deserved shot at UFC gold. I would let Sean have his first title defence facing Du Plessis.

Israel Adesanya – Adesanya did not look like the great Izzy we have seen in many fights before, he looked flat, slow and couldn’t get going in the fight. I would give Izzy some time off as he has been very active recently. I would make him wait to fight the winner of Costa/Chimaev.

Alexander Volkov – Volkov looked exceptional destroying hometown hero Tuivasa. I think he should get the loser of Jailton Almeida/ Curtis Blaydes

Tai ‘BamBam’ Tuivasa – In his second time in Tuivasa’s pro MMA career he is coming off the back of 3 losses. I think the fight that makes the most sense is Marcin Tybura.

Manel Kape – Winning 4 fights in a row we witnessed the ‘Starboy’ have a back and forth war with a very game opponent. The fight to make has to be Kai Kara France. Both guys talking a lot of smack and the dust needs to be settled.

Felipe Dos Santos – This kid took a huge opportunity fighting #10 Flyweight in the world in his debut and made it a scrap, the sky is the limit for Dos Santos being 22 years old. I think he should fight Malcolm Gordon next.

Justin Tafa – We have a new Mark Hunt ladies and gentlemen, Heavy hitter Tafa made easy work of Austen Lane finishing him with a stunning knockout in the first round. In my opinion there's ton of options for him to fight next but I would like to see Tafa V Waldo Cortes Acosta.

Austen Lane – A bad night at the office for Lane, the former NFL defensive ender had a previous cancellation to fight the younger brother of Justin, Junior Tafa back in February. I would love to see Junior V Lane next.

Tyson Pedro – Tyson Pedro is back in the winning column with an impressive finish over Turkalj. He has definitely improved from his last fight, furthermore, a fight with Marcin Prachnio could be on the cards.

Anton Turkalj – Losing his first 3 UFC fights it would be interesting to see what happens next for Turkalj. At only 27 years old I think he would benefit going to a European promotion such as Cage Warriors or KSW and going on a title run there. Not quite UFC worthy yet but still has a lot of time on his hands.
